This player isn’t someone that fans would want to see back in the black and gold but Jared Cook is still a free agent and he does have ties to the Saints so he belongs in this post. Cook joined the team in 2019 to fill their starting tight end role.
While Cook put up decent numbers in his two years with the team (705 yards and nine touchdowns in 2019 and 504 yards and seven touchdowns in 2020), fans will always remember the tight end for his mistakes. His fumble in the 2020 playoffs cost the Saints big time against the Bucs and it felt like he was responsible for a lot of tipped passes that ended up as picks.
It didn’t help Cook’s popularity in New Orleans when he bashed the team last offseason after he joined the Chargers. He had 564 yards and four touchdowns this past year in Los Angeles but at 35 years old, he probably isn’t going to be a team’s starting option anymore.
Jared Cook won’t be an option for the Saints for multiple reasons but he’s a former player who spent time with the team.
