1. Tyler Van Dyke
As I mentioned on the Tanner McKee entry, it’d be nice to put C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young here but those guys are pipedreams. Had the Saints held onto their first-round pick for next year and then tanked this upcoming season, landing either of those guys wouldn’t have been out of the question but that won’t be happening now.
Another potential name they could land, however, is Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke. The 6’4″, 224-pound quarterback threw for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions through 10 games with the Hurricanes last year. Van Dyke has a strong arm and is able to get the ball out quickly, something that NFL offenses covet.
Van Dyke should most definitely be on the Saints’ radar this season because if he somehow drops to the second round, New Orleans could really use a guy like him in their offense.
Hopefully, Jameis Winston is able to impress and show why he was a former No. 1 overall pick and the Saints don’t have to worry about finding another option at quarterback. If he does struggle this year, however, these names are ones to keep in mind.
