If Jameis Winston can’t perform to the level of expectations, the Saints might opt to remain in-house with their future quarterback option. If Winston is particularly bad this year, perhaps New Orleans gives Ian Book another chance to show what he can do.

For those who might not remember, Book made one start during his rookie year in 2021 and it didn’t go well. He was sacked a whopping eight times and threw two picks during a Monday night showdown against the Dolphins.

In Book’s defense, it was a game where COVID wiped out a lot of the starters and he didn’t have much to work with. He also wasn’t ready to be in that situation and it showed big time.

If Winston proves he isn’t the answer this year, Book might get some playing time and if he does decently, maybe the Saints give him the keys to the car in 2022.
