4. Alvin Kamara (4,238)
Saints RB from 2017-Present
With their third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Saints selected Alvin Kamara out of Tennessee. Kamara went on to put up one of the most impressive seasons from a rookie running back in quite some time and even if he didn’t do all of his damage on the ground, 1,554 total yards and 13 total touchdowns is impressive no matter how you try to swing it.
Kamara’s efforts during his rookie season earned him the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and it was pretty clear that it was going to come down to either him or Kareem Hunt since none of the rookie quarterbacks that year stood out as favorites.
The next year, Kamara was even better, racking up 1,592 total yards and 18 total touchdowns. Fourteen of those 18 touchdowns were on the ground.
Kamara’s ability to make plays both on the ground and through the air has been what has made him one of the best offensive weapons in the game and he put that on even more display during the 2020 season when he had a whopping 1,688 yards from scrimmage and an astounding 21 total touchdowns.
A consistent “knock” on Kamara amongst non-Saints fans is that he’s never had a 1,000-yard rushing season but who cares? He’s been utilized more in the receiving game than most running backs and he’s still put up over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in every season so far.
Oh and the best news is that Kamara still has time to move up these rankings.
