RB2: Mark Ingram
While Kamara is out, Mark Ingram should get the bulk of the carries. He needs no introduction in New Orleans, as he was the Saints’ first-round pick back in 2011 and was coming off a Heisman Trophy season at Alabama.
It took Ingram a bit to get going but once he broke through, he was a tough runner for defenders to bring down. It was a bummer to see him land with Baltimore following the 2018 season but fate brought Ingram back to the Big Easy this past season and he’ll be on the team again in 2022.
While Ingram flamed out a bit this past season, he’s a nice compliment for Kamara and will be a good option for NOLA to have while their star running back misses time. Ingram is capable of being the lead back in an offense and that’s precisely why the Saints went out and traded for him last season (remember — Kamara was injured when NOLA traded for Ingram).
Ingram is entering year 12 at the helm and that’s a long career for anyone but especially for a running back. Here’s to hoping for a strong season from the former Crimson Tide standout.
