Vincent Gray, DB (Michigan)
The Saints added some more depth to their secondary when they agreed to terms with former Michigan cornerback Vincent Gray. Gray, who is deemed as a very raw prospect, actually left college early to declare for the NFL Draft; but he never heard his name get called.
Vincent Gray is a physical corner, but he does struggle with flipping his hips and back-end speed, which resulted in a lot of blown coverages last season at Michigan. Gray, while he has work to do, is deemed to be an excellent corner number four or five on any depth chart, but he will need a strong training camp to make the team.
Gray, in three years in Ann Arbor, logged 91 tackles, five tackles for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and 15 passes defended. I like the raw abilities of Vincent Gray, but the fact that he didn’t record a single interception for one of the best college football programs last season does raise quite a bit of concern.
