Rashid Shaheed, WR (Weber State)
Rashid Shaheed may be the most athletic player that the black and gold added to their roster this offseason, and I’m not exaggerating. He reminds me a lot of Deonte Harris when he was coming out of college and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Saints in the fact that Shadeed thrived as a returner but showed his gifts receiving the ball as well.
Shaheed has blazing speed and could be the deep threat the Saints are looking for on the offensive side of the ball. The Weber State product can make any catch, run any route, and return the ball like nobody’s business.
Shaheed has the ability to have a similar effect that Harris did when he burst onto the scene as a rookie, and I expect the same thing to happen.
Let’s be honest, Harris has struggled with injuries which has left our kick and punt return unit in shambles at times. If Shaheed can come in and anchor the unit and allow Harris to thrive in the receiving game more, that could work out far better for the Saints in the long haul.
We’re already starting to see Dennis Allen depart from some of the things that Sean Payton was stuck in and involving Harris on offense more is certainly something that could be on that list.
I love the addition of Shaheed and I certainly think he’s going to make the final roster.
