Lucas Krull, TE (Pittsburgh)

New Orleans added a tight end in their undrafted free agent class by signing Lucas Krull to the roster. I am a big fan of the addition of the big Pittsburgh tight end.

Krull, who was actually drafted in the 34th round of the MLB Draft back in 2018 by the San Francisco Giants, is a very solid addition to the Saints’ tight end room that already has Adam Trautman, Juwan Johnson, Nick Vannett, and J.P. Holtz (not to mention Taysom Hill).

Krull was likely high on the Saints’ radar after the team was doing film study on Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett, and Krull probably stood out from their film study. Krull hauled in 38 receptions for 451 yards and six touchdowns with Pitt last season and he’s got the tools to be a nice addition to New Orleans.

Krull originally played at Florida under Kyle Pitts and has experience playing with some exceptionally gifted athletes. As mentioned, he played alongside Pitts at Florida and even was teammates with current Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. Krull’s familiarity with high level of competition and NFL caliber players makes him a great option for the Saints.
