Abram Smith, RB (Baylor)
At this point, everyone in Who Dat Nation should know who Abram Smith is. Smith is one of the best players that the Saints brought in this offseason overall. Yes, I said overall, not just in the undrafted free agent class.
Smith was the workhorse back at Baylor last season, and he did more than enough to prove he can hang with the big dogs. Smith has the burst of an NFL-ready running back, and he seems to be a no-brainer to make the Saints’ final roster as of now.
Smith, last season, ran the rock 257 times for 1,601 rushing yards while scoring 12 touchdowns. He is a Latavius Murray type of running back; powerful, has burst, not excessively fast. The Baylor product is a run the rock up the middle style of running back, but he certainly could catch the ball if he needs to.
Bringing in Smith to learn under Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram will do nothing but help him improve his own play style and emerge as a legitimate backfield threat for the New Orleans Saints in years to come. I love the upside of Abram Smith and I’m buying all the stocks of him cracking the final roster.
