Eric Wilson, IOL (Penn State)
Eric Wilson is one of the smartest players on the Saints, and he hasn’t even strapped up the pads yet. Wilson, before transferring to Penn State for his final season of college football in 2021, attended Harvard University and was the anchor of their offensive line.
Wilson isn’t a quitter. He never gives up on blocks, even if he does miss the block to begin with. Wilson needs to work on his initial punch off the line, otherwise, it will be hard to keep up with fierce inside rushers.
Wilson has a tough mindset that he carries into his playstyle, but he needs help with his overall mechanics if he hopes to transfer his play to the highest level.
Truthfully, I don’t see Wilson cracking the final roster, but he could have a good opportunity with another team if he has a strong offseason. Wilson is certainly a bright fella, as even getting into Harvard on an athletic scholarship takes big brains.
Eric Wilson will get an opportunity to showcase his abilities in New Orleans, but if I had to make a prediction, I don’t think he’ll be strapping up in the black and gold this year.
