8. Alvin Kamara
Drafted 67th overall in 2017
The Saints have struck gold whenever they’ve drafted running backs and the most recent example of this is Alvin Kamara, who they landed in round three in 2017.
The Tennessee Volunteer immediately made an impact in the Big Easy, rushing for 728 yards and eight touchdowns while racking up another 81 receptions for 826 yards and five scores. His impressive campaign won him the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year and it was well-deserved, as he finished with a total of 1,554 scrimmage yards and 13 total touchdowns.
It’s Kamara’s ability to make noise as both a pass-catcher and runner that has made him so deadly in New Orleans and one of their best draft picks ever.
Kamara might not be far into his professional career, but the Tennessee product has totaled at least 1,300 scrimmage yards in every season of his career. The dude is unreal.
The “knock” on Kamara is that he hasn’t rushed for 1,000 yards in his career yet but that shouldn’t matter considering just how lethal he is as a pass-catcher. For everything he’s accomplished just a few years into his career, Alvin Kamara is most definitely one of the Saints’ best draft picks.
