The NOLA Saints have added a few quality players this offseason but they could use a few more before they enter the 2022 NFL Draft. Let’s take a look at three cheap free agents for New Orleans to target before the draft kicks off later this month.

While the New Orleans Saints aren’t in cap hell (for once), they could use a few more starting-caliber players before they get to the draft. There are still some “cheaper” options to be had in free agency that the Saints could add and then might not have to put as much of an emphasis on those positions in the draft.

These three options would help New Orleans in two key areas and could be addressed for cheap. They’re obviously not long-term options at the position but would be able to help the team in the short term. Let’s take a look!

3. Duane Brown

Soon-to-be 37-year-old Duane Brown is definitely not a long-term option at left tackle but he could provide a nice potential starting option for a team in need of a left tackle. The Saints fall into that category.

Perhaps New Orleans truly thinks that James Hurst is their plan at the position for the 2022 season or maybe Landon Young impresses enough over the summer that he can slide in at left tackle. If the Saints decide to bring someone else in to compete for the starting job, however, Brown could make a lot of sense.

Brown wasn’t terrific in 2021 but he started all 17 games and durable left tackles are hard to find. If the Saints don’t want to put as much of an emphasis on left tackle in the 2022 NFL Draft, Brown could make a lot of sense.
