Round 3: Pick 101 – Khalil Shakir, WR (Boise State)

Why not go back-to-back with wide receivers with the Saints’ two third-round selections? This time, they grab Khalil Shakir out of Boise State and he’d give the offense yet another terrifying weapon.

Shakir had an awesome year for the Broncos in 2021, tallying 77 receptions for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns through 12 games while averaging 14.5 yards per reception. He might play in a smaller conference but we’ve seen Group of 5 wideouts come into the league and make their presence known so there’s no reason why Shakir couldn’t do that.

Shakir also could add some spice in the return game, as he handled both kick and punt returns during his Boise State tenure. Deonte Harris handled those duties mostly in 2021 but adding someone like Shakir could give them an added boost.

Wide receiver is one of the Saints’ biggest weaknesses so if they added two in the 2022 NFL Draft, fans would be pretty psyched.
