The New Orleans Saints know who their No. 1 wide receiver is going to be in the 2022 season. Michael Thomas is set to return after missing all of last year due to injury. Who will be the No. 2 wide receiver though?
NOLA has a few different directions they can go in when it comes to finding someone to fill in the WR2 role. They can sign someone in free agency, they can draft someone, or they can roll with an in-house option.
I cover potential candidates from each of those three options in this piece, so let’s get to it. We’ll start with free-agent options.
I discussed on Wednesday how the Saints should look into bringing back Emmanuel Sanders and I’m sticking by it. Sanders played for New Orleans in 2020 and was a cap casualty last year, which was unfortunate.
Sanders was solid during that 2020 season with the Saints, grabbing 726 yards and five touchdowns. This past year with the Bills he had 626 yards and four touchdowns, proving he still has plenty left in the tank.
This one is probably unlikely due to how much it’d cost to land Jarvis Landry but Saints fans want to see it happen. Landry, a former LSU standout, has spent eight years in the NFL splitting time with the Dolphins and Browns.
Landry and Thomas together in New Orleans would be a match made in heaven for Saints fans. It’d take a lot to get Landry to come to the Big Easy, but it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?
