6. Adrian Peterson
When the Saints agreed to terms on a contract with Adrian Peterson in the 2017 offseason, it felt like a solid move for New Orleans. They ended up drafting Alvin Kamara in that year’s draft and still had Mark Ingram on their roster so adding Peterson gave them what felt like a trio of terror at running back.
Well, things didn’t go well for Peterson in the Big Easy. The former MVP appeared in just four games for the team and rushed for 81 yards off of a mere 27 carries. He wasn’t happy about the way he was being utilized and a trade felt imminent.
New Orleans ended up shipping Peterson off to Arizona where he finished the 2017 season with 448 yards and two touchdowns. Peterson played this past season, which was his age-36 season but has been pretty banged up recently.
It wasn’t a bad move for the Saints to bring Peterson in when they did and they had no idea it’d go as poorly as it did. At least they got some draft picks in return.
