Carolina Panthers starting QB in 2022 will be Sam Darnold

The Panthers have a few different directions they could go in when it comes to their quarterback situation for 2022.

Unfortunately for them, Sam Darnold is owed $18 million per Spotrac and it’s doubtful anyone is going to jump at the chance to trade for him. That could put them in a situation where they’re forced to roll with Darnold in 2022 and then part ways with him after the season concludes.

Maybe that involves drafting a quarterback with their No. 6 overall pick and having him on the sidelines in case Darnold is really, really bad. With Matt Rhule on the hot seat, however, settling on Darnold as the quarterback seems like an easy route to getting fired.

When I spoke with Cat Crave, FanSided’s Panthers blog, they mentioned that Deshaun Watson is still an option too if his legal issues get sorted out.

Saints fans definitely hope Darnold is Carolina’s guy in 2022 because he’s proven that he’s not a good quarterback with multiple teams now.
