2. Juwan Johnson
Speaking of preseason stars, Juwan Johnson might have been the biggest of the bunch. He and Jameis Winston put on a clinic during the preseason and no one would have been surprised to see Johnson emerge as the new TE1 in New Orleans.
Week 1 validated those thoughts, as Johnson exploded for two touchdowns and really put his name on the map. He added another touchdown in Week 4, giving him three in the first four weeks but did not find the end zone again until the season finale in Atlanta.
Johnson finished the season racking up just 13 catches for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Considering how dominant he was in the preseason, this definitely left Saints fans wanting more from the wide receiver turned tight end.
At the same time, however, losing Winston was probably a big reason for Johnson’s lack of production down the stretch. Those two clearly had chemistry and the offense wasn’t the same after Winston was lost for the season.
