The NOLA Saints lost Drew Brees to retirement last offseason and the loss of their future Hall of Fame quarterback has hurt the offense tremendously. The black and gold have rolled with four different quarterbacks in the 2022 season and it’s going to be something they need to address in the offseason.
New Orleans also needs to revamp the wide receiver room and the tight end position.
With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at some way-too-early trade targets for New Orleans in the offseason.
NOLA Saints should trade for Brandin Cooks
The Texans are in a rut. Their quarterback doesn’t want to play another snap for them and they’ve shown this year that they’re going nowhere.
With that said, Houston needs to sell off all of their assets and get as many draft picks as possible to help jumpstart the rebuild. One player they’ll still have under contract in 2022 is wide receiver, Brandin Cooks.
Saints fans know who Cooks is, as he was a former first-round pick by New Orleans in the 2014 NFL Draft but eventually found his way out of the Big Easy due to his attitude. Since that time, Cooks has been humbled, as he’s on the fourth team of his career and playing for a really bad team at the moment.
If Houston is desperate enough to stockpile draft picks and is willing to trade Cooks, the Saints should definitely be interested. They need wide receivers desperately.
