Saints passed on Van Jefferson in 2020 NFL Draft

Taking Van Jefferson in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft would have been a shocking move, but had New Orleans moved back into the second round, it’d have been a good move for them. Jefferson went No. 57 overall and has been a nice playmaker for the Rams during his two years there.

Last year wasn’t anything special for Jefferson, as the Florida Gator totaled just 220 yards and a touchdown in 16 games as a rookie. This year, Jefferson has been propelled into a starting role, starting 11 games, and really flourishing in the process with 33 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns.

Again, I’m not mad at the Saints for not going with Jefferson in round one but trading back and nabbing him would have been a good value pick. He’s shown this year that he can produce as a starter and that’s exactly what New Orleans needs — A starting-caliber wide receiver.

Jefferson could have been just that for the Saints.
