4. NOLA Saints should add Pass Rusher
This one is tricky because NOLA does have a decent group of players who could be premier pass rushers but after not recording a sack in the loss to the Giants, it’s something they might want to consider addressing. They’ll get David Onyemata back after he serves his six-game suspension and Marcus Davenport is on IR, so he’ll hopefully be back in a few weeks as well.
With that being said, if teams don’t have a pass rush, it makes things tough on their secondary because the quarterback isn’t getting pressured and has time to make throws. We saw that very thing transpire on Sunday, as Jones would drop back to pass and was only hit six times. He threw for over 400 yards in his first win of the season.
Part of what’s made the Saints’ defense so scary over the past few years is that they’ve had a threatening pass rush. Trey Hendrickson was a big part of why last year’s group was so good and he’s playing for the Bengals now. New Orleans still has a good group there but if Davenport isn’t healthy and ready to go, it couldn’t hurt to add someone here.
