Sean Payton needs to put more trust in Winston

One of the most frustrating plays of the game was after Winston connected with Kenny Stills on a touchdown that was wiped out, Sean Payton trotted Taysom Hill out there at quarterback and he threw an interception. It didn’t make sense after Winston made that magic happen on the play before to pull him.

Winston showed he can be what this team needs at quarterback, throwing for 226 yards and a touchdown. He made good decisions and was hitting different receivers throughout the game. It seems pretty clear at times that Payton doesn’t fully trust his quarterback and that’s going to come back and bite him at some point.

This was an ugly loss for a team that should have won this game handily. Hopefully this loss doesn’t end up biting the Saints in the butt when it comes to playoff contention but it’s hard to find many positives from a game that went from an 11-point lead to an overtime loss.
