2. Lack of production from WR/TE

Another reason why Winston might not have been very good on Sunday is that he has no one to throw to. Michael Thomas is out with an injury, Tre’Quan Smith is on IR, and the rest of the guys on the roster haven’t done much throughout their time in the league (or are washed up at this point).

Marquez Callaway was supposed to be this team’s secret weapon but he’s looked very much like a second-year player who went undrafted. Adam Trautman needed to step up and claim the TE1 job but that hasn’t happened, as he’s been outplayed by Juwan Johnson.

We knew entering the season that NOLA didn’t have a good situation at wide receiver and it was also pretty easy to tell that tight end wasn’t great either.

The Saints aren’t going to win games if their playmakers don’t make plays. Winston can’t do everything on his own, so it’s up to guys like Callaway and Trautman to step up and make their presence known, which they haven’t done so far. Between the two, they’ve totaled just 40 yards on six catches. Not good.
