Saints Bold Prediction vs. Packers
1. Winston outperforms Rodgers
The boldest prediction of the weekend is that Jameis Winston will outperform the reigning MVP himself, Aaron Rodgers. People are probably rolling their eyes reading this one and that’s understandable. We haven’t seen Winston start an NFL game since he was a member of the Buccaneers and we were all two years younger.
There’s a reason Winston’s not still in Tampa but there’s a reason Sean Payton wanted him in New Orleans and that’s that the kid is talented. He went No. 1 overall in 2015 for a reason and it’s because when he’s on, he can make magic happen down the field. Bad performances, however, are particularly bad for Winston, as he’s been prone to turning the ball over.
While Rodgers is still playing with a chip on his shoulder, so is Winston and he’s going to make the most of the opportunity that’s been given to him in New Orleans.
This game has the potential to be a shootout and if it is, Winston is equipped to keep up with Rodgers. He finishes this game throwing for more yards and touchdowns than Rodgers while throwing fewer interceptions. If that happens, Saints fans will give Winston the respect he deserves this season.
