The New Orleans Saints‘ 53-man roster is ready to go for the Week 1 matchup against the Packers, set to take place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. The final roster has had some adjustments since initially getting put together last week and some of the additions were a bit surprising.

While the Saints obviously had reasons for picking the players they did to make their final roster, some of them were a bit of a perplexing pick. Whether the team was well-off at the position or the player themselves just didn’t do much this preseason, keeping them on the roster was surprising, to say the least.

Cutting down the roster to 53 players is difficult but the Saints feel good about how their final roster is looking entering what should be an interesting 2021 season for the black and gold.

Let’s take a look at three members of the New Orleans Saints who made the roster but fans are left wondering “Why did they make the team?”. We’ll start with a wide receiver who was signed before training camp but failed to do much during practice and preseason.
