1. Garrett Griffin
It was a bit surprising to see Garrett Griffin make the final 53-man roster because, well — He didn’t do much this summer. The reason why he made the cut is probably due to the injuries to Adam Trautman and Nick Vannett, so carrying four tight ends is an insurance policy moving forward.
Griffin has been with the Saints since 2017 mostly serving on special teams, which is his likely role if he does actually see playing time in a regular-season game. He made three starts last year but Griffin has never done much offensively for the Saints and will probably be inactive in games if Trautman and Vannett are both able to play.
It feels like a safe bet that if New Orleans adds another player to their roster that Griffin will find himself on the outside looking in. He’s been with the team for four years, however, and that’s why he initially made the team. They know what to expect from the former Air Force product.
These four Saints might have made the 53-man roster but they shouldn’t relax and put their feet up anytime soon.
