New Orleans Saints Roster – Tight Ends (3)
- Adam Trautman
- Juwan Johnson
- Nick Vannett
Tight end was a bit tricky, but mostly due to injuries to Trautman and Vannett. This, in turn, could open the door for Garrett Griffin or Ethan Wolf to sneak onto the roster. For the time being, however, this is what the tight end position will look like for the Saints.
Trautman is entering year two of his career after being a third-round pick out of Dayton. He didn’t do much as a rookie last year but the hope is that he’ll have a breakout year for the Saints in 2021.
I put Johnson as the backup because he’s really lit it up this preseason. The transition from wide receiver to tight end has worked out well so far to the point where Johnson could honestly emerge as the starter at some point this season.
Vannett was the Saints’ free-agent signing at the position and he’s done very little this summer. He’s never been a star but if he can serve as a solid backup/third-string option, that’s the best-case scenario for Vannett in New Orleans.
