Saints: 3 cornerbacks to consider adding with Patrick Robinson’s retirement
Cornerbacks for New Orleans Saints to add – No. 2: Gareon Conley
If the Saints decide to turn to free agency, one of the best names still sitting out there is former first-round pick, Gareon Conley. It hasn’t been the kind of career Conley had planned on after going in the first round to the Raiders, as he’ll be on his third team since going in the first round in 2017.
Conley didn’t play in 2020 but was traded to the Texans midway through the 2019 season after it was obvious things weren’t working out for him in Oakland. He’s a free agent at the young age of 26 and this could entice the Saints to sign him.
Conley might not be a star but he’s a young, promising cornerback who could fill a nice depth role for this team. He’d also be an affordable option for a team that doesn’t have a lot of cash in the bank at the moment.
The Saints have their starters set up for the most part but losing Robinson definitely hurts. Conley wouldn’t be a starting option, at least not right away, but he’s an experienced player with 29 passes defended and four interceptions throughout the course of his career.
