CB. Florida State University. AsanteSamuel. 28. player. 15. .

There is no doubt that one of the Saints’ biggest needs this draft is a strong cornerback. With Caleb Farley, Jaycee Horn, and Greg Newsome already off the board, the Saints will secure the last of the big four at the position in this draft class.

Jaycee Horn is the son of a former Saint, but Asante Samuel, Jr., is the son of a former first-team All-Pro cornerback. His dad played 10 years in the NFL for the Patriots, Eagles, and Falcons. He went to four Pro Bowls and had over 51 interceptions in his career.

Now, his son, who is entering the NFL this year, is going to try and step into his father’s footsteps. Samuel played college football at Florida State University for the last three years. Over the last couple of months, Samuel has risen to a top-four cornerback in this class.

He totaled four interceptions, 71 tackles, 3.0 for a loss, 29 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 31 games throughout three years. Samuel has the blood to be a great NFL cornerback but only time will tell.
