The Saints should avoid DE, Jayson Oweh in the first round.

The need for a defensive end is an illusion in New Orleans. The Saints saw Trey Hendrickson leave this offseason and sign a massive contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, which was well deserved after almost leading the NFL in sacks last year.

That has led to the illusion that because the Saints lost a huge defensive end that they need another one and should target them in the first round. Hendrickson got the opportunity with Marcus Davenport dealing with nagging injuries most of the season.

The black and gold are still going into 2021 with two widely respected defensive ends — Marcus Davenport and Cameron Jordan. They are still considered one of the best pairs of defensive ends in the NFL, as they should.

Avoiding Jayson Oweh has nothing to do with him or his play style. He ended his college career with 13.5 tackles for a loss and 7.0 sacks. However, the team needs to avoid this pick because there isn’t even a slight need for a defensive end this year.
