Saints potential No. 2 wide receiver: Golden Tate

There are several ideal free agents still on the market, and while Golden Tate may not be the best, he’s the most cap-friendly option.

As we all should know, the Saints have little cap space, so adding a veteran that won’t cost too much would be the best option. Tate could fit that mold, especially coming off a season playing with the New York Giants.

Still just 32, Tate had his worst season since becoming a full-time starter in the league. He played in 12 games and started just 4. He ended the season with 388 yards, almost half of what he put up the season prior.

Tate did have above a 67 percent cate rate which topped his career average, but one must remember that not every receiver is playing alongside the ultra-accurate Drew Brees. That said, in 52 targets and 35 receptions, he had just one drop.

He wouldn’t be the most high-profile addition, but with so much youth in the receiving corps, having Tate would be a plus.
