The New Orleans Saints have a tremendous need at linebacker even if Zach Baun steps up. Baun was the team’s third-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he certainly didn’t have the impactful rookie seasons many forecasted.
With Alexander and Anzalone no longer on the roster, the Saints are going to need some help at linebacker, and they could use a veteran line K.J. Wright. Formerly on the Legion of Boom, Wright is now a free agent and has yet to find his next home.
Wright had 86 combined tackles last season and topped 130 in 2019. While he is 31 and his days of being one of the top linebackers in the league are over, Wright still has every trait it takes to have a massive impact on almost any NFL franchise.
Wright has played in all 16 games in the last two seasons which, for an aging linebacker, is impressive. His consistency and his dominance are why the Saints should target him.
He may be the one out of these three that is outside of their price range, but Mickey Loomis has proven he can make just about anything happen, like clearing nine figures worth of cap space.
