Joshua Dobbs

Current Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Joshua Dobbs is an interesting pick-up for the Saints. I would imagine Taysom Hill really being able to mentor Josh Dobbs going forward in his career. Dobbs is only 26 and is coming off of a contract where he was the third-string quarterback on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

His youth is one of the most intriguing things about Dobbs and where he decides to play next. In his 2020 season, Dobbs only threw four passes for two yards in one appearance. There is really nothing to judge there.

There really isn’t much statistically appealing about Dobbs which is why the Saints might be able to sign him for around $1 million per year. His current contract in Pittsburgh was roughly $750,000 per year and the word is that Pittsburgh is not re-signing him.

In his first season with Pittsburgh, Dobbs saw five passes for 43 yards. However, if the Saints can transition Dobbs into another Taysom Hill then they could have found a diamond. Either way, Dobbs could serve as a frugal, backup quarterback option.
