The New Orleans Saints have the No. 28 pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft, and with their cap issues will have multiple holes to fill.

Trading up has not been an uncommon practice for the New Orleans Saints. We can start with Marcus Davenport. While he hasn’t quite worked out like the team had hoped, they traded up into the middle of the first round to bring him in.

Then, we have just a draft ago. Not only did the team trade up for a second third-round pick, but they also added a seventh-round pick that they felt was coveted. That player was quarterback Tommy Stevens.

This offseason, the Saints are in a tricky position with their salary cap. Mickey Loomis has always proven that he can add talent around the cap, but the Saints are likely to lose some of their rising stars.

It feels unlikely that they can even re-sign Marcus Williams and Jameis Winston. Let’s not forget about Sheldon Rankings, Alex Anzalone, and Trey Hendrickson, all of which are also set to hit the open market.

With multiple positions needed to be filled, the Saints may be able to narrow it down to a few very important ones. That said, assuming they have the resources as they should be acquiring a few compensatory picks in this draft, New Orleans should consider trading up.

Let’s dive into who they could target with that trade.
