Jameis Winston (QB)

This name should be an obvious thought when thinking about who is a priority to re-sign this offseason. The potential retirement of over decade-long quarterback Drew Brees is looming large, and thinking about a replacement even larger.

Most fans and analysts have already voiced their “goodbyes” to Drew Brees on social media. It should almost be considered a lock that he will retire, but until we hear it out of his mouth, anything can happen for next year.

However, should he retire, Jameis Winston should be considered the next man up. Signing from the Buccaneers last year after throwing for over 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, Payton has had a year to see what he has and groom him for the inevitable position.

Unfortunately, the Saints only signed the star to a one year contract last year. That means that if they are serious about their intentions to have him replace Drew Brees, they are going to have to fork over the money for this free agency or he will find a home elsewhere.
