Jared Cook

Jared Cook’s contract is up at the end of this season.

He signed a deal for two years, and after this season, he’ll likely be gone. It’s not that Cook is expendable. It’s that Cook will be used less and less as Adam Trautman, the team’s third-round pick, becomes more involved in the offense.

The 6-foot-5 Trautman has had a reception in the team’s last three games, more than Cook can say, although the veteran is certainly a better option at this point in each of their respective careers.

Cook is a mismatch nightmare, and he’ll be able to thrive with Drew Brees once he returns. However, the future is that of position is in the hands of the former Dayton Flyer. Both Trautman and Cook has three receptions last week.

The rookie has continued to do more in the offense, and he’ll make Cook become a bit more expendable this offseason.
