Ty Montgomery

The New Orleans Saints brought in Ty Montgomery, and it felt like the rave around the Big Easy was that this elusive back was going to be a smaller version of Taysom Hill.

Well, it’s sadly turned out that Montgomery has played little. Montgomery, through the team’s first nine games, has played in ten offensive snaps and 50 special teams snaps.

This just wasn’t the impact he was thought to have when they added him to the roster. To be fair, the explosive nature of Alvin Kamara has rendered Montgomery useless as a pass-catching back.

He hasn’t received much use as a receiver either, and that’s been a position the Saints have struggled to get much production from with 2019 Offensive Player of the Year Michael Thomas with just three games played so far this season.

With Jameis Winston running the offense for the next few weeks, it’s not expected that Montgomery’s role will change. He’ll need an Alvin Kamara injury to even see the field much on the offensive side, and it’s unlikely he’ll be brought back if they’re not going to put him to use.
