The New Orleans Saints will be without six starters against the Lions, and a few specific players must step up in their absence.

After a 1-0 start with a win over divisional rival Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Saints, who have been without superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas, have dropped the last two games.

While it can’t all be put on the defense, the Saints’ opponents have scored over 70 points in the last two games. Having given up 34 points to the Raiders and 37 to the Packers, the Saints defense just hasn’t been doing well.

This type of start isn’t something that’s been overly rare for the Saints.

They’ve typically entered Week 2 1-0 and then lost, resulting in a 1-1 start. However, the 1-2 start coupled with the fact that they’ll be facing an inferior team but missing six crucial starters will add to the uneasiness currently facing Saints’ fans.

It’s not just their fans but the organization as a whole as the team must be feeling the heat with no Marshon Lattimore, Michael Thomas, Janoris Jenkins, or Andrus Peat to ensure they don’t kick the season off 1-3.

That said, let’s dive into three players that must step up in the absence of six crucial starters.
