DJ Swearinger

The Saints’ safety room is absolutely loaded. They have two starters, Marcus Williams and Malcolm Jenkins.

Those two are the definition of consistent when it comes to actually play in games and should be available for the bulk of the action this season. If they aren’t, Ceedy Duce, who recently changed his name from C.J. Gardner-Johnson, is also a capable safety.

That leaves DJ Swearinger on the outside looking in. Swearinger has played in 99 games and played in almost three-quarters of them. He’s been a starter for the bulk of his career and should still be one.

He signed a one-year deal to join the Saints this season, and after 2019 in which he started seven games, it wouldn’t be crazy for a team to want to bring him in if they aren’t comfortable with their current group.

That said, all six of these players most likely won’t be traded, but if a team is calling, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if they are.
