Tre’Quan Smith

The 24-year-old Smith is entering his third season in the NFL after being a third-round draft pick back in the 2018 draft. He had one thriller of a game as a rookie and flashed potential in multiple outings.

Smith’s 2019 campaign was a rough one, and Smith has yet to transform into Brees’ No. 2 receiving target. His inability forced the Saints to bring in former Pro Bowl receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

The veteran is now under a two-year contract and would allow the team to finally deal Smith.

While there doesn’t seem to be any intentions and potentially even a desire to get Smith more involved as the No. 3 option, his play doesn’t back up continuing to give him chances with the team.

With players like Emmanuel Butler continuing to shine at camp, it would make sense for the team to cut their losses and let another unproven receiver get a shot.
