Number Eight: Kiko Alonso
Kiko Alonso was brought in at the start of the 2019 season from the Miami Dolphins to help add some strength to the New Orleans linebacker corps, but now he’s more of a liability than an asset given his injury history.
Alonso has had a great career making tackles and hitting hard, but he’s far past his prime.
Kiko Alonso just doesn’t have what it takes to get extended playing time with the Saints in 2020. The Saints are bringing back a healthy Alex Anzalone, the NCAA’s runner up behind Chase Young in sacks in Zack Baun, and signed standout Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie Jr to a deal as well.
With all the fresh legs on the team now Alonso, who’s coming off another ACL tear in his career, is likely on his way out. However, Alonso, with the right camp, may be able to find himself as a starter.
The future is in the hands of the former star. It’s on him to recreate a name for himself at the highest level.
