C/G, Cesar Ruiz (and/or Erik McCoy)

There has been a lot of talks this offseason about were the surprise first-round pick of the Saints is going to fit on the offensive line. In his final collegiate season with Michigan, the star draftee started all his games at the center.

However, he has the possibility and has played the guard position before. The same is also true of the current Saints center Erik McCoy. The two holes on the line that need to be filled are the right guard and the center.

McCoy was the center last year for the Saints so it would make sense to start Ruiz’s career off in the guard position, but it will still take some relearning to happen because the positions are not played the same even if they can go back and forth.

If they decide to put Ruiz at the center and slide McCoy over to the guard, then both of them will be hurt by the absence of the preseason. If they leave it the way it is, only Ruiz will be hurt by not getting any practice time game situations.
