The New Orleans Saints struck gold when they signed veteran linebacker Demario Davis to a three-year deal in 2018. That deal is about to end.

Demario Davis has most definitely played better than his contract and exceeded all standards that analysts had on him. The Saints need to prioritize re-signing the 31-year-old linebacker before they consider bringing anyone else back on a long-term deal.

Players like Alvin Kamara, Marcus Williams, and Marshon Lattimore will all be up for contracts in the next two seasons with the former two needing a new deal this coming offseason — so does Davis though, and about every other linebacker on the roster.

Davis will be 32 at the time of his free agency, but he has seemingly just hit his prime.

Demario Davis has a lot of years left to play in the NFL and the Saints need to keep him in the Big Easy to avoid making a very costly mistake. However, the price that a top-tier linebacker could request may be something the Saints are uncomfortable giving up.

That said, let’s dive into three reasons why the Saints need to make him a top priority this next offseason.
