Number Five: Erik McCoy

Erik McCoy had a breakout season as a rookie center for the New Orleans Saints in 2019 but will need to carry over his success to a new position, offensive guard.

Replacing the multiple-time Pro Bowler in Larry Warford will not be an easy accomplishment, but if he can do it he can have a very long Pro Bowl filled career ahead of him.

McCoy, 22, started all 16 games for the Saints in 2019 and was only penalized eight times.

McCoy was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team following the season and played a pivotal role in helping lead the Saints to yet another playoff appearance. McCoy was also tasked with replacing one of the NFL’s best centers in Max Unger and he did so with ease.

McCoy is said to have incredible versatility and speed which should make a transition to offensive guard a very smooth one. Replacing Larry Warford will not be easy, but if he can do it well he will prove to be one of the best guards in the NFL at a very young age.
