Number Three: Margus Hunt (Track & Field)

Margus Hunt was a track & field star before discovering football. Hunt competed in several events in his youth and was one of the best track & field athletes in his native Estonia.

He initially tried being a decathlon athlete, but quickly threw that dream aside and began to throw shot put, discus, and hammers.

Hunt competed at the 2003 World Youth Championships in the hammer throw and discus throw and finished eighth and sixth respectfully.

Hunt also competed in the European Junior Championships in 2005 where he won his first title with a record setting discus throw of 62.19 meters, a record that still stands today.

Margus Hunt became the first athlete to win a gold medal in both shot put and discus and likely would have had a great career in the sport if he never followed through with football.
