The New Orleans Saints defense was something special last season on the field. In fantasy, however, there are a lot of “field” statistics that are not replicated in fantasy; therefore, the best defense might not be the best fantasy defense.

However, the Saints still finished in the top ten last season at No. 9. That means that there is room for improvement though. They might have let go of some key players, but they also brought in some playmakers as well.

If the defensive line and linebacking core can stay healthy, the sky is the limit for this defense. I fully expect a healthy Saints’ defense to be inside of the top five this year in terms of fantasy football defenses and special teams.

If your draft is looking at individual defensive players (IDP), the Cameron Jordan is the player to go with on the defensive line, Demario Davis is the linebacker of choice, and Malcolm Jenkins or Marshon Lattimore should be the secondary players you choose.
