Number Three: He’s a Hard Worker

Ty Montgomery might be one of the most underrated, bring your lunch pail to work type of players in the NFL. Montgomery has always been a team-first player who will always do what needs to be done in order to help his team succeed.

Montgomery was never really a featured player in his previous teams as he was behind guys  Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Jordy Nelson during his time in Green Bay. When he switched over to running back, he sat behind guys like Eddie Lacy, Buck Allen, and Le’Veon Bell which dampened his playing time and his success.

On the Saints roster, however, he will be able to compete for the number three spot in two different positions.

At the running back position, he will be directly competing with Dwayne Washington who has seen limited NFL action. At the wide receiver position, he will be competing with a slew of talent for the number three or four spots on the depth chart including Tre’Quan Smith, Krishawn Hogan, and Austin Carr.

Montgomery’s ability to play multiple positions and do so well should give him an edge on the depth chart.
