No. 1 San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy G was probably giddy with excitement when his team acquired Trent Williams. Now he may have his shot with Larry Warford.

Williams is undoubtedly the best left tackle in the league. Warford is considered elite among right guards. A pairing of the two keeps the 49ers in playoff contention and continues to set them apart from the pretenders.

Having allowed only seven sacks in the past three seasons, Warford would immediately fix a glaring hole in the 49er’s pass rush protection.

Think back to the Super Bowl. Chris Jones bullied Mike Person all four quarters, deflecting passes seemingly at will. With Person since (deservedly) released, Daniel Brunskill has stepped up on the depth chart to fill the starting role.

A hefty George Kittle extension is the only thing barring the 49er’s from spending their $15 million in cap space on Warford. But in the grand scheme of things, that’s a small hurdle to clear for the three-time Pro Bowler.
