Round Five: #169 Overall

In the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, I have the New Orleans Saints selecting Utah cornerback Javelin Guidry. Guidry, a 5-foot-9 lightning-fast defensive back, would fit extremely well in the Saints’ secondary.

Javelin Guidry didn’t do too much at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, but he did perform exceptionally well in the events he participated in.

Guidry ran a 4.29 forty yard dash and banged out 21 bench press reps at the combine. In his college career, Guidry had 120 tackles, 19 passes defended, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.

The Saints have a few expiring contracts in their secondary and have some aging veterans who may not be around too much longer. The Saints need to draft a guy like Guidry to develop for a few years and turn into a starter in future years.
