Ability

There is no doubt that Dre Kirkpatrick has the skills to play as a No. 2 cornerback. Over his course of time in Cincinnati, Kirkpatrick intercepted 10 passes, deflected 65 passes, forced one fumble, and recovered three fumbles.

He also added 302 tackles (six for a loss), three sacks, and three hits on the quarterback. If Kirkpatrick can come into New Orleans and do what he has done when he plays in over ten games a season, he will fit in perfectly.

The biggest need that the Saints have with Kirkpatrick is that his contract can not match his ability. Kirkpatrick can demand money from someone like the Dolphins, but for the Saints, he would have to take a pay cut.

A star cornerback for the 2015 and 2016 season, Kirkpatrick earned his huge contract but couldn’t follow it through until the end with top-tier play. Now, he can look to win, and he would every chance to do that in New Orleans.

Dre Kirkpatrick fits the mold of what the New Orleans Saints are looking for and need at the cornerback position. If they could also draft someone that Kirkpatrick can help mentor and bring up, that would be a bonus.
