Upon hearing that the Cincinnati Bengals are releasing eight-year cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, should the New Orleans Saints consider signing him?

Dre Kirkpatrick is an eight-year veteran cornerback that has spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, the New Orleans Saints should inquire about making the Big Easy his next home.

Yesterday, the Cincinnati Bengals made the tough decision to release Dre Kirkpatrick due to contract space as the veteran DB was owed over eight figures this coming season.

Kirkpatrick is now the newest cornerback to hit the free-agent market in a position that the New Orleans Saints need to dabble in. Whether to find someone better than Jenkins or to find someone reliable in case Jenkins or Lattimore fall to an injury.

Or, maybe they just want an above-average CB No. 3.

Last year, the New Orleans Saints didn’t really have much depth at cornerback. Their No. 2 before Janoris Jenkins was signed was Eli Apple. He was not up for that position, hence the reason he was let leave in free agency.

The decision to keep Lattimore and Jenkins is a good one, but now they are in search of another cornerback. Could the new free agent be the key piece that the New Orleans Saints have been searching for? Here are three reasons that he could be.
